BLACK GOLFERS BEFORE TIGER WOODS TO BE DISCUSSED FEB. 20

In celebration of Black History Month, Old Dominion University's Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity will sponsor a lecture titled "They Came Before Tiger: African American Golfers in the Jim Crow Era."

Marvin P. Dawkins, chair of African American studies at the University of Miami, will deliver the lecture based on material he gathered for his book of the same name.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Burgess Room (921) of the Batten Arts and Letters Building.
