STUDENTS HONORED AT MODEL U.N. CONFERENCE

Four members of Old Dominion's Model United Nations Society were honored at the 35th annual University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations Conference.

More than 40 universities from the United States, as well as schools from Canada and Israel, participated. Old Dominion's winners were:

"Best Delegate" James Ryan Grizzle, a junior international studies major from Newport News, who represented North Korea in the Asian Pacific Summit. Grizzle is secretary-general of the Old Dominion Model U.N. Society and will serve as secretary-general of the 15th annual European International Model United Nations Conference in The Hague, Netherlands, in July 2002.

"Best Delegate" Jim Sposato of Norfolk, a senior political science major originally from Vineland, N.J., who represented Italy in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization simulation.

"Honorable Mention" Brian Gillespie and Mohammad Khatib, who represented North Korea in the Special Political Committee of the U.N. General Assembly. Gillespie, a senior from Virginia Beach, is majoring in international studies. Khatib, a graduate student in biological sciences, is from Washington, D.C.
