PRESENTATIONS OFFERED ON RECENT CHANGES TO TAX ACT
The Department of Human Resources will sponsor four presentations next week on the Economic Growth and
Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, which has been called the most important benefits legislation enacted by Congress since the 1980s.
The comprehensive tax bill significantly increases tax sheltered annuity and deferred compensation contribution limits, simplifies distribution rules and includes major pension reform. The sessions will explain many of the changes, such as: elimination of the Maximum Exclusion Allowance Requirement, increases to Pre-tax Contribution Limits, Catch-up for Age 50 or Older and 457 Plans Liberalized.
The presentations, by retirement plan specialist Marvin F. Ball, are scheduled for 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the River Rooms of Webb Center, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the Portsmouth/Virginia Beach Room in Webb.
