OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY GALLERY PRESENTS THREE THESIS SHOWS

"Working Between the Lines," "The Blue Square and the Bed," and "Epiphany" will conclude the Old Dominion University Gallery fall exhibition schedule. All are one-person thesis shows to satisfy the requirements for a master of fine arts degree in studio.

Danielle Smith-Llera's "Working Between the Lines" will be on exhibit Nov. 17-25. The opening reception is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. "My sculptures, prints and artist books are linked by a single intent: to reveal the potential for line to be kinetic, poetic, narrative, analytical, tangible and ethereal at once. These works document a process of understanding line as the essential root of expression," explained Smith-Llera.

Jenna Oke's "The Blue Square and the Bed" can be viewed Dec. 1-9. The opening reception is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. According to Oke, "The Blue Square and the Bed" series memorializes the idea that the quilt has been a companion to us in our most delicate and human moments. It explores the connection between the quilt, the bed and the human experience.

"Epiphany," an exhibit of mixed media collographs by Solomon Isekeije, will be on exhibit at the gallery Dec. 15-23. The opening reception will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. "The subjects in my artwork mostly represent the interference of the supernatural being in our everyday lives," noted Isekeije.

The University Gallery is located at 350 W. 21st St., Norfolk. Gallery hours are noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
