TOOMEY'S TUNES SOOTHE NPR LISTENERS

National Public Radio's "Morning Edition" program recently began using selections from "Refraction," a compact disc by Old Dominion's John Toomey, associate professor of music.

A award-winning jazz musician, Toomey recently returned from the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival where he performed with Rene Marie. They will be performing next week for the Portugal Jazz Festival in Lisbon and then at the JVC Jazz Festival in Paris before returning to campus for a concert on Nov. 19 as part of the Diehn Concert Series.

Lauded for innovations in teaching on TELETECHNET, Toomey received an Outstanding Faculty Award in 2000 from the State Council of Higher Education, one of the most prestigious honors in higher education.
