OLD DOMINION'S PLAYTIME THEATRE PRESENTS " GOOSEY LUCY" THIS WEEKEND
"Goosey Lucy," a contemporary adaptation of the Grimm Brothers' tale of "The Goose Girl," will be presented by the Old Dominion University Theatre Oct. 26 - 28.
Written and directed by Old Dominion faculty member Frankie Little-Hardin, "Goosey Lucy" is part of the university's Playtime Theatre for All Ages series of entertaining and educational plays intended for the young and young at heart. Playtime Theatre offers special performances to local elementary schools as well as public performances of all its productions.
"Goosey Lucy" tells the story of a young princess sent to marry a prince whom she has never met. The princess travels with a servant girl who forces her to switch places so the prince will marry the servant girl. The real princess has to keep the secret or she will be killed. According to Little-Hardin "Goosey Lucy" focuses on the secret that controls that young princess, making the connection between the princess' secret and the secrets many children often hold.
"Goosey Lucy" runs one weekend only at the Stables Theatre. Performances are 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26; 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28.
