ART EDUCATORS' WORKS TO BE EXHIBITED AT OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY GALLERY

Tidewater art educators will have their work on display Oct. 27 through Nov. 11 at the Old Dominion University Gallery, located at 350 W. 21st St. in Norfolk.

More than 35 artists are expected to submit pieces for the show, the 15th Annual Tidewater Virginia Art Education Association Juried Exhibition, which opens with a reception at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. TVAEA is the regional arm of the Virginia and National Art Education associations.

"Although there are numerous demands and tasks for today's art teachers, we also have a desire to express our creativity not only for ourselves, but for the enjoyment of others as well," said Artise Matthews, TVAEA president.

"In this exhibition are selected works representing a broad range of creative talents, workmanship and ingenuity."
The exhibition will be juried by Norfolk artist Ray Hershberger, who has won numerous awards for his work since the 1980s. A 1975 graduate of Old Dominion's bachelor of fine arts program, Hershberger currently offers art instruction at the Contemporary Arts Center of Virginia and the Adult Learning Center, both in Virginia Beach, and at the Hermitage Museum Foundation and D'Art Center, both in Norfolk. He also is a visiting artist in regional public and private schools and conducts workshops for regional art groups, organizations, institutions and universities.

The University Gallery is open from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. For more information call 683-2355.
