YETIV TO DISCUSS TALIBAN ON MSNBC TODAY

Steve Yetiv, an associate professor of political science at Old Dominion, is scheduled to appear on MSNBC today to discuss the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Yetiv, who is an expert in Middle Eastern affairs, particularly those relates to terrorism, has been featured on numerous national media outlets, including CNN, NPR, C-SPAN and Voice of America, as well as in newspapers across the country. His expertise was highly sought during the Gulf War.

During this time of national tragedy, Yetiv has been called on by ABC News, yahoo.com, and U.S. News and World Report, among others, to share his perspective on the situation.

Another Old Dominion faculty member, John Kiefer, who is an adjunct in the Graduate Center for Urban Studies and Public Administration, also has been featured in numerous national publications, including USA Today and U.S. News and World Report. He also has been interviewed nationally by ABC News, CBS News and yahoo.com, among others.

Kiefer, who received his Ph.D. in urban studies from Old Dominion in May, wrote his doctoral dissertation on "Urban Terrorism: Strategies for Mitigating Terrorist Attacks Against the Domestic Urban Environment." Included in his research were interviews with the director of security for the World Trade Center and the director of emergency services for New York City.
