SNAKE RESEARCHER ON THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL MONDAY

Alan H. Savitzky, associate professor of Biological Sciences at Old Dominion University, and research associate Chris Petersen will be featured in an episode of "Nigel's Wild, Wild World" premiering Monday night, Oct. 1, on the Discovery Channel.

The episode, "Tracking Deadly Vipers," focuses in part on Savitzky's research tracking poisonous snakes at a field site in southern Chesapeake. Air time is 8 p.m. Monday, with reruns scheduled at midnight Tuesday, Oct. 2, and 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. "Tracking Deadly Vipers" also features other types of venomous snakes found in practically every portion of the lower 48 states.

Host Nigel Marven is a naturalist and filmmaker. He was producer and director of the BBC's Natural History Unit, where his work included David Attenborough documentaries. More information on the show is available at http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/nigelmarven/nigelmarven.html.
