GERMAN FILM SERIES BEGINS TONIGHT

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures begins it's fall film series, Insiders and Outsiders, tonight with a free showing of "Winter Sleepers" at 7 p.m. in room 104 of the Batten Arts and Letters Building.

The 1997 film by Tom Tykwer, the director of the acclaimed "Run Lola Run," has all the visual excitement of that film, but it is linked with an even richer story, explained Heidi Schlipphacke, who is coordinating the film series.

A car crash following a spur-of-the-moment joyride leads to unexpected consequences for five residents of a small skiing village. As their lives connect, their needs, motivations and secrets come to the surface.
