GAY, LESBIAN, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER CULTURE EVENTS BEGIN OCT. 4

Old Dominion University's Office of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Programs (GLBT) will offer a variety of events on campus in observance of GLBT History and Culture Month beginning Oct. 4.

Events include:

Thursday, Oct. 4
"The 2001 Virginia Election: A Gay and Lesbian Perspective," guest speaker: Pat Heck of Virginians for Justice, 5:30 p.m., James/Lynnhaven River rooms, Webb University Center.
President's Lecture Series, "The Playwright vs. The Theater," guest speaker: playwright Edward Albee, 8 p.m., North Cafeteria, Webb University Center.

Tuesday, Oct. 9
"The Gayme Show," a "Jeopardy"-style game about GLBT history, facts and trivia, 7:30-8:30 p.m., Potomac/York River Rooms, Webb University Center.

Wednesday, Oct. 17
"Homophobia and How It Supports a Rape Culture," guest speaker: Ruth Micklin, co-director of Virginians Against Domestic Violence, noon, Chesapeake/Portsmouth Rooms, Webb University Center.

Wednesday, Oct. 24
"If These Walls Could Talk," a question-and-answer session about the GLBT ally community at Old Dominion, 7:30-8:30 p.m., Potomac/York River Rooms, Webb University Center.

Friday, Oct. 26
Multicultural Book Club discussion, Jay Quinn's "The Mentor," 7 p.m., Potomac/York River Rooms, Webb University Center.

Saturday, Nov. 10
"Old Dominion's Inaugural GLBT Short Film Festival," 7-10 p.m., room 102, Mills Godwin Jr. Life Sciences Building.
