BLACK HISTORY MONTH COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

What started as a week-long period of remembrance has developed into a month-long celebration of Black History Month at Old Dominion University.

Since 1977, the university has provided programs and events celebrating African-American history for the campus and surrounding community.

The Hugo A. Owens African-American Cultural Center is seeking faculty and faculty administrators interested in serving on the 2002 Black History Month committee. Last year more than 3,000 individuals participated in university Black History Month activities and events.

For more information, contact the Hugo A. Owens African-American Cultural Center at 683-5490. The group's first meeting will be at noon Monday, Sept. 10, at the Owens Center on 49th Street.
