ACKISS APPOINTED INTERIM DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI RELATIONS

Claire Geiger Ackiss has been appointed to serve as interim director of alumni relations. She takes over the duties of Charlie Roddy, who resigned from the position this summer.

Ackiss has served in a variety of capacities in the alumni office since 1986. She was named assistant director in 1988, overseeing chapter development, special events and support for the Alumni Association board of directors, and became associate director in 1999.

Among her many accomplishments are the development of an Alumni Legislative Network, now 375 strong, the chartering of several alumni organizations, the coordination of all special events for the program and the alumni send-off parties for new students entering Old Dominion.

Last year, she also assumed the duties of coordinator of governmental relations for the university.
Ackiss, who first joined Old Dominion in 1976 as an employee in the athletic department, received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the university in 1998.
