PROPOSALS DUE TODAY FOR LATIN AMERICA CONFERENCE

To celebrate Franklin Martinez Mendoza's visit to campus, Old Dominion will sponsor the Pedagogy and Culture in Latin America Conference Sept. 15.

A Cuban scholar whose body of work in psychology and preschool education has international acclaim, Mendoza has specialized in language development for preschool-age children for the last 25 years. He currently serves as a chief researcher for the group on language development in preschool children at the Central Institute of Pedagogical Sciences in Havana.

Faculty and scholars whose research focuses on pedagogy and cultural studies in Latin America and/or that attest to the interdisciplinary focus of Latin-American studies programs are invited to submit proposals for the conference. They must be postmarked by July 25.

Proposals may be submitted either to Dean Cristol, program co-chair, in room 165-11 Education Building, or Regina Root, program co-chair, in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
