SIX SAILORS EARN ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
Six Old Dominion University sailors were named by the ICSA/Ronstan All-Americans led by senior skipper Adam Burns (Youngstown, N.Y.), a first-team selection for the third straight year.
Joining Burns on first team are skippers Brad Funk (Harbor Bluffs, Fla.), Sally Barkow (Nashotah, Wis.), along with crew Elisabeth Biondi (Norwalk, Conn.), and Emily Ruiter (Freehold, N.J.) . Corrie Clement (Metarie, La.) was an honorable mention All-American skipper selection.
The six sailors helped lead Old Dominion to all six Collegiate Sailing National Championships in 2000-01. In the fall the Sloop squad finished third, Brad Funk placed seventh at the Singlehanded Nationals, and two-time All-American Sally Barkow placed ninth at the Women's Singlehanded Nationals.
Last week, the Monarchs were fifth at the Team Race Nationals, sixth at the Women's Dinghy Nationals and eighth at the coed Dinghy National Championships.
