ENGINEERING STUDENT PLACES SECOND IN COMPETITION
Michael Mattera, a senior civil and environmental engineering major from Chesapeake, recently won second place in the Hardy Cross Presentation Competition at the annual American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Virginias Conference.
In the Hardy Cross Competition, students are judged on their oral presentation of a technical topic. Mattera won a $250 prize for his presentation of "Replacement of the Coleman Bridge."
Mattera competed against students from colleges and universities in Virginia and West Virginia, including the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia Military Institute and West Virginia University.
