C-SPAN TO AIR TIM RUSSERT'S COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS JULY 3
C-SPAN will broadcast Old Dominion University's spring commencement address, given on May 5 by NBC "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 3.
The coverage marked the third time in four years that the national cable network has aired the university's spring ceremony. Old Dominion was first featured in 1998 when comedian, actor and humanitarian Bill Cosby spoke and again in 1999 ABC White House correspondent Sam Donaldson delivered the address.
"This is yet another example of how Old Dominion continues to expand its national reputation," said John R. Broderick, vice president for institutional advancement. "The broadcast provides a superb opportunity for our alumni all over the country to feel part of a very special day for the institution."
Known for providing live gavel-to-gavel proceedings of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, C-SPAN is viewed by an estimated 22 million people each week. C-SPAN is located on channel 44 for Cox cable viewers.
