'THREE THURSDAYS IN JUNE' CONCERT SERIES RETURNS NEXT MONTH
Old Dominion's popular outdoor concert series, "Three Thursdays in June," opens its fourth year on June 7 with a performance by the Virginia Symphony, under the direction of Wes Kenney.
Each of the three successive concerts will begin at 7 p.m. on Kaufman Mall in front of Webb Center. They are free and open to the public.
On June 14, the Great American Music Ensemble will be back to perform a selection of jazz tunes, followed by the Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet on June 21. A new addition to the lineup, the quartet puts its mark on vocal jazz with a distinctive brand of tight harmonies, swing rhythms and inventive vocalise lyrics.
Concert-goers are advised to bring blankets or lawn chairs to the outdoor concerts. Refreshments and picnic food will be on sale. In case of rain, concerts will be held in the University Theatre.
