OLD DOMINION FEATURED PROMINENTLY IN VIRGINIA BUSINESS MAGAZINE ISSUE ON HAMPTON ROADS

From the leading-edge applications at the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center (VMASC) to the success of the Career Advantage Program, Old Dominion University, its programs and its people are prominently featured in the May issue of Virginia Business magazine.

In a special report on Hampton Roads, the magazine profiled the research and work being done at VMASC as a prime example of why the area "has emerged as a hotbed of technology transfer, not only in Virginia but also the nation." The article, "Virtual Reality, Computer modeling and bioscience could put Hampton Roads on the technology map," features a color photo of VMASC researcher Hector Garcia and names the Center for Advanced Engineering Environments, another of the College of Engineering and Technology's Enterprise Centers, as one of the area's research strengths.

In another story, "How to boost wages in low-paying Hampton Roads," the magazine points to Old Dominion's Career Advantage Program (CAP), which guarantees and internship to every undergraduate, as a positive step in training and keeping a skilled, educated workforce in the region. The article quotes Provost Jo Ann Gora and profiles Old Dominion graduate, and CAP participant, Michel Bile.
