DISABILITY SERVICES HONORS PHILOSOPHY'S ROD EVANS
The Office of Disability Services recently recognized Rod Evans, an adjunct assistant professor in the philosophy and religious studies department, as the Outstanding Teacher of the Year for 2000-01.
Evans was selected by the Disability Services Student Advisory Council from 33 professors nominated by students registered with Disability Services.
The award is based on six criteria: ability to convey subject matter, effectiveness of teaching methods, willingness to assist, openness to accommodations, consideration of student's individual needs and accessibility to students.
Among the student comments about Evans was, "Regardless of how busy he is, he will help anywhere, anytime."
He has taught at Old Dominion since 1989.
