CONVERSATION PARTNERS NEEDED FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Old Dominion University's English Language Center is looking for faculty, staff and students to work as "conversation partners" with international students this summer.

In July and early August, 44 students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia will be on campus to participate in a program designed to give an introduction to American culture and education. At the end of the summer, these students will go to universities across the United States to do graduate-level studies in the fields of law, public health, education, environmental management and public administration.

Faculty, staff and students are needed to help students experience American life. Participants will be expected to spend two hours a week for five weeks interacting with these international students. Benefits include increased knowledge of the world, new friendships and a small stipend.

For more information or to participate, contact Lydia Gross at lgross@odu.edu or 683-4424.
