RACE AND THE CENSUS IS TOPIC OF APRIL 5 LECTURE
Melissa Nobles, a professor of political science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology who currently is a visiting fellow at Boston University's Institute on Race and Social Division, will discuss "Why the Census Counts by Race and Why it Matters," at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 5 in 921 Batten Arts and Letters Building.
Her lecture is part of Old Dominion University's Institute for the Study of Minority Issues' George Teamoh Colloquium Series.
Professor Nobles lecture will be drawn from her recently published book, "Shades of Citizenship: Race and the Census in Modern Politics."
