LADY MONARCHS WIN 10TH CONSECUTIVE CAA TITLE; FACE WASHINGTON IN NCAA TOURNEY

Okeisha Howard scored 13 points Saturday as Old Dominion won its 10th consecutive Colonial Athletic Association Tournament title with a 66-62 victory over James Madison University. The Lady Monarchs now will face Washington in the first round of the 2001 NCAA Division 1 Champtionship.

The Lady Monarchs, 21-8, are the No. 11 seed in the West Regional. They will face the 19-6 Huskies, the No. 6 seed. The game will be played Friday, March 16, on the campus of the University of Florida.. The bracket's second round game, also in Gainesville, is set for Sunday, March 18.

In the CAA championship game, Monique Cocker had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Monarchs. James Madison's Nadine Morgan had a game-high 21 points.

James Madison (20-9) jumped out to a 14-4 lead, but Old Dominion went on a 19-2 run to take a 23-16 lead. The Lady Monarchs never trailed after that.

Old Dominion's victory avenged a 49-48 loss to James Madison on Feb. 18 that snapped the Lady Monarchs' 113-game winning streak against CAA opponents.
