LADY MONARCHS HOLD TOP SEED FOR CAA TOURNEY
For the sixth consecutive season, Old Dominion University's Lady Monarchs are the top seed in the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Basketball Tournament to be held March 8-10 at the Old Dominion Fieldhouse.
James Madison University, which broke Old Dominion's 113-game CAA win streak earlier this season, is the second seed.
The Lady Monarchs finished the season 14-1 in conference play. James Madison was 12-4. Both Old Dominion and JMU will have first round byes for the tournament.
Last night the #3-seeded George Mason defeated #6-seed UNC Wilmington, 58-47, and #5-seeded William & Mary bested #4-seeded Virginia Commonwealth, 67-60.
Today James Madison will play GMU at 5 p.m. and Old Dominion will take on W&M at 7:30 p.m.
The winners of those two games will vie for the CAA title at 2 p.m. Saturday. With the CAA championship comes an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.
