PARKING AFFECTED BY 47TH STREET CLOSURE
Beginning next week, the city of Norfolk will close 47th Street between Hampton Boulevard and Killam Avenue due to construction to support the University Village.
The Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority (NRHA) has awarded a contract to construct a new sanitary sewer station at 1024 W. 47th St. The notice to proceed was given in January and this portion of the project should be completed in 45 days. During construction access along 47th Street will be limited. Also, the work will eliminate the eastern half of parking lot 14, located behind The Stables Theater. The area will contain several construction crews and a variety of equipment and vehicles. Drivers should avoid the area.
Other parking options are available around the campus. Parking lot 1, located on 49th Street and Hampton Boulevard is two blocks away. Parking lot 27, located in front of the Health and Physical Education Building has more than 1,300 parking spaces and very rarely fills up. There are more than 350 parking spaces on 43rd Street between Hampton Boulevard and Powhatan Avenue. All of these lots are serviced by the campus shuttle that comes by every 12 minutes and are within an eight minute walk from the Technology Building.
You must have a valid Old Dominion University parking decal to park in any of the parking areas.
