FORMER LADY MONARCHS COACH TAPPED AS MYSTICS ASSISTANT

Former Lady Monarch basketball coach Marianne Stanley joined the WNBA's Washington Mystics Feb. 6 as an assistant to new head coach Tom Maher.

Stanley coached at Old Dominion from 1977 to 1987, winning three national championships. She most recently was an assistant with the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, and also has coached at University of Southern California, Stanford and California.

She won National Coach of the Year honors twice during her 21 years of collegiate coaching.
