DENTAL HYGIENE PROGRAM TO DEDICATE RENOVATED FACILITY FEB. 17

The Old Dominion University Dental Hygiene Clinic, a division of the university's College of Health Sciences, will dedicate its newly renovated Dental Hygiene Care Facility and the new Dental Hygiene Research Center at a 1 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 17.

A ribbon cutting and remarks by university President James V. Koch and College of Health Sciences Dean Cheryl T. Samuels will be a part of the celebration, which will be held in the campus clinic, located in the Technology Building on Hampton Boulevard and 47th Street.

The renovation project was undertaken to accommodate $439,000 worth of new equipment. The university has operated a dental hygiene care facility since 1967.

The dedication ceremony is being held in conjunction with the College of Health Sciences' Winter Dental Hygiene Conference, which runs Feb. 16-18 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel.

The conference will feature four courses: "Ergonomics: Aligning Your Instrumentation Skills," "Professional and Predictable Take-Home Tooth Whitening," "Communication: Frontline Techniques with Patients and Colleagues" and "Oral Risk Assessment."

For more information, call the clinic at 683-4308 or visit its Web site at web.odu.edu/dental.
