OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY MONARCHS TO SHOOT "BASKETS FOR BOOKS" JAN. 27
When the Old Dominion University Monarchs take on the University of Richmond Spiders in a men's basketball game Jan. 27, they'll be shooting for more than just baskets. They will also be helping to raise money for the university library.
The 11th Annual "Baskets for Books" game, co-sponsored by Old Dominion's Athletic Department and the Friends of the Library, begins at 7:35 p.m. at Norfolk Scope. A percentage of the proceeds from game ticket sales will be donated to the university's Perry Library for the purchase of new books and equipment.
During halftime, Old Dominion President James V. Koch will participate in a free-throw contest with a "mystery celebrity" to help raise even more money for the library.
Admission to the game for individuals presenting a public library card is only $5. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for university faculty and staff, children 17 and under, members of the military and senior citizens. Group tickets are available at a rate of $5 per person.
Anyone interested in making a donation to the Perry Library is encouraged to call Friends of the Library at 683-4141. For more information about the "Baskets for Books" game, call 683-4444.
