BIOLOGIST TO DISCUSS SALAMANDERS NOV. 30 AS PART OF BIOLOGY SEMINAR SERIES

Reid Harris of the Department of Biology at James Madison University will discuss joint nesting and kin discrimination in four-toed salamanders at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in room 101 of the Mills Godwin Jr. Life Sciences Building at Old Dominion University.

Harris' research interests include the ecology, evolutionary biology and behavioral ecology of amphibians. He is investigating the causes of joint nesting behavior among female salamanders, the determinants of metamorphic timing of larval amphibians and the use of traditional metamorphic fitness correlates. The session is part of the Old Dominion Department of Biological Sciences Seminar Series.
