NORTHERN VIRGINIA CENTER DEDICATION TONIGHT

State legislators, dignitaries and Loudoun County community members will be on hand when Old Dominion University President James V. Koch officially dedicates the university's Northern Virginia Center at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30.

Sen. William C. Mims, Del. Kenneth R. Plum, Del. Richard H. Black, Del. Joe T. May and Scott J. York, chair of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, are expected to attend the ceremony. The Northern Virginia Center is located at 21335 Signal Hill Plaza, Suite 300, at the intersection of Harry Byrd Highway (Route 7) and Potomac View Road, in Sterling.

Designed for the working professional, the Northern Virginia Center opened for classes in August and offers 22 upper-level undergraduate programs, 25 graduate programs, a dozen certificates and three professional certificate programs. Classes are taught by faculty at the center and via TELETECHNET, Old Dominion's distance learning network.

With state-of-the-art mediated and virtual classrooms, three computer classrooms, a student study area and a 100-seat mediated lecture hall, the facility also features an executive conference room, seminar rooms and an Information Technology Center. Many of the classrooms are equipped with ceiling-mounted large-screen data projectors and computer ports, while the computer classrooms have built-in PCs. Additionally, students have on-site access to advising and registration services and computer interactive library services.
