KOSNIK RELEASES FIFTH CD OF ORGAN MUSIC, "CHANT MOSAIC"
James W. Kosnik, associate professor of music, has two selections on the recently released CD "Chant Mosaic," recorded at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis.
It is his fifth CD and the third recording he has made with the Liturgical Organists Consortium, a concert agency sponsored by J. S. Paluch/World Library Publications of Chicago. Kosnik's selections include Jean Langlais' "Te Deum Laudamus" and Theophane Hytrek's composition based on "Victimae Paschali Laudes."
"The interior space of the Cathedral Basilica presents the viewer with one of the finest collections of mosaics in the country," Kosnik said. "The consortium was inspired by this visual theme in 'Chant Mosaic.' We incorporated the idea of Gregorian chant as an aural 'mosaic,' which brings together the individual chant melodies to form part of the history of sacred music."
