BEST-SELLING INVESTMENT BOOK AUTHOR BURTON MALKIEL TO SPEAK NOV. 9 AT ECONOMICS CLUB LUNCHEON
Burton G. Malkiel, Chemical Bank Chairman's Professor at Princeton University and author of the best-selling investment book "A Random Walk Down Wall Street," will speak at Old Dominion University's Economics Club of Hampton Roads luncheon Thursday, Nov. 9.
Co-sponsored by Old Dominion's College of Business and Public Administration, the luncheon will begin at noon at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel in downtown Norfolk. Due to limited space, reservations are required. The cost of the luncheon is $30 for nonmembers.
Malkiel, who has held numerous professorships at Princeton, is a former chair of the economics department. He also served as dean of Yale University's School of Organization and was the William S. Beinecke Professor of Management Studies there.
A past appointee to the Council of Economic Advisors, he is a director of the Vanguard Group of Investment companies; Prudential Insurance Co. of America; Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Gestinova o Madrid; Baker, Fentress and Co.; the Select Secto SPDR Trust; and the Jeffery Co. private investment firm.
Malkiel is a past president of the American Finance Association and a member of the American Economic Association. He is the author or co-author of nine books, the most recent of which are "Global Bargain Hunting: An Investor Guide to Profits in Emerging Markets" and "The Index Fund Solution."
Malkiel holds degrees from Harvard and Princeton universities and began his career in the investment banking department of Smith Barney & Co.
