PARENTING CENTER OFFERS LECTURE TONIGHT ON 'HOW TO STOP YELLING AT YOUR KIDS'
Katharine C. Kersey, professor of early childhood, speech language pathology and special education at Old Dominion University, will give a lecture titled "How to Stop Yelling at Your Kids" from 7:15-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Old Dominion's Kiwanis Parenting Center, 45th Street and Hampton Boulevard in Norfolk.
The free lecture, sponsored by the Kiwanis Parenting Center, the Parenting Network of Healthy Families of South Hampton Roads and Pride in Parenting of St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children, will explore ways to keep parents from yelling at their children.
Kersey will offer practical parenting tips and explain the effects of parents' loss of control with their children. The lecture will stress the importance of being able to forgive oneself for past mistakes.
Kersey will be available until 8:30 p.m. to answer questions.
