MICHAEL STOCKSTILL APPOINTED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT FOR HIGHER EDUCATION, CONTINUING EDUCATION
Michael Stockstill, executive director of continuing studies at Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, was recently appointed as Old Dominion University's assistant vice president for higher education centers and continuing education, effective Oct. 2.
Stockstill will be responsible for the direction of Old Dominion's higher education centers, as well as the Weekend College and Experiential Learning programs. He will also oversee the university's continuing education operations.
In his current position, Stockstill has been responsible for all aspects of the operations for continuing studies. Under his direction, the Division of Continuing Studies developed six new professional certificate programs in business and engineering, opened 10 new off-campus teaching centers, and more than doubled the distance learning enrollments and course offerings.
Prior to his work for IU-PU, Fort Wayne, Stockstill directed continuing education and distance learning at Portland State University and the University of Washington. Additionally, he has held faculty positions at Northern Virginia Community College and Gaston College and served as a program and project manager for two companies in Northern Virginia.
Stockstill received a bachelor's degree in English and a doctorate in history from Mississippi State University.
