LECTURE SERIES OPENS TODAY WITH FILIPINO-AMERICAN AUTHOR BINO REALUYO

Filipino-American novelist Bino Realuyo will open the 2000 Manuel Viray Filipino-American Studies Lecture Series with a discussion of writing and ethnicity from 4-5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, in the Burgess Room of the Batten Arts and Letters Building.

Realuyo was featured on a recent cover of Filipinas magazine and his first novel on the Philippines, "Umbrella Country" (1999) was named by Booklist as one of the 10 best novels of that year.
