NEW STUDENTS MOVE IN; PRELIMINARY ENROLLMENT FIGURES ANNOUNCED
Approximately 3,400 new students will begin the 2000-01 school year at Old Dominion University when classes start Saturday, Aug. 26. The new and transfer students bring the university's enrollment to more than 18,500.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, freshmen and other students new to Old Dominion will move into the university's residence halls. Returning students will begin move-in after 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26.
"The complete number of students won't be known until Weekend College, Internet courses and TELETECHNET students finish registering," said John R. Broderick, vice president for institutional advancement. "We are, however, pleased with the preliminary number and caliber of our incoming students."
University housing in Whitehurst, Rogers and Gresham halls, as well as Powhatan Village and the new housing facility, Old Dominion Inn/Monarch House, can accommodate 2,226 students. Approximately 98 percent of the available spaces were full as of Aug. 21.
