TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED, OFFERED

Thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation, Old Dominion is awarding scholarships to students pursuing degrees in computer science, engineering and mathematics (CSEM).

Last month, 29 of the scholarships were awarded, and 11 more will be offered in the coming weeks. In all, 13 scholarships of $4,000 per year and 27 awards of $2,500 per year have been funded by NSF.

Old Dominion also has received a Department of Education Grant for Graduate Assistants in Areas of National Need (GAANN) to fund U.S. national doctoral students in electrical engineering. The electrical and computer engineering department is seeking qualified students for these doctoral fellowships, which are in the range of $15,000.

In addition to the stipend, the offer includes money for a computer, some travel funds and a full tuition grant that could be worth an additional $12,000. For more information, call Amin Dharamsi, graduate program director for electrical and computer engineering, at 683-4467.
