NORTHERN VIRGINIA CENTER TO OPEN AUG. 26 IN LOUDOUN COUNTY

Students in nearly 60 undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs will begin fall semester classes Aug. 26 at Old Dominion's new Northern Virginia Center in Loudoun County, at the intersection of Harry Byrd Highway and Potomac View Road.

Twenty-two upper-level undergraduate and 25 graduate degree programs, as well as a dozen certificates and three professional certification programs, will be offered at the center. The facility features state-of-the-art mediated and virtual classrooms, three computer classrooms, a student study area and a 130-seat mediated lecture hall.

The center also includes an executive conference room, seminar rooms and an Information Technology Center. Many of the rooms are equipped with ceiling-mounted large-screen data projectors and computer ports, while the computer classrooms have built-in PCs. Advising services will be available on site in mid-July.

The center will also be available for corporate use. Accommodations include state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, corporate-style conference rooms, satellite transmission and reception capabilities, and video-teleconferencing capabilities.

Michele S. Spires was named interim director of the center on June 5. Since 1998 she has served as regional director of military programs for the center.

Previously, Spires was the regional officer for admissions and records at Troy State University.

For more information, contact the center at (703) 948-2750 or e-mail at nvc@odu.edu, or visit the center's Web site at web.odu.edu/nvc.
