MONARCH PLAYER AMONG CANDIDATES FOR TODAY'S MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL DRAFT
Old Dominion University shortstop Tim Hummel is expected to be among players selected in today's Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
Hummel, a 6-2, 185-pound junior from Montgomery, N.Y., hit .408 for the Monarchs this season with eight home runs and 68 RBI.
Hummel was selected to the Baseball America second team pre-season All-American squad. In November, he was named third team pre-season All-American by both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers and Collegiate Baseball paper. ESPN baseball analyst Peter Gammons has projected Hummel as a possible first-round pick.
