KAREN TRAVIS PROMOTED IN INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT
Karen F. Travis has been promoted to the position of assistant to the vice president for institutional advancement, effective July 1.
Travis joined the university in 1995 to manage the capital campaign special events initiatives in the Office of Development. In 1996 she moved into the Office of University Events as assistant director and later was name associate director. While there she established a strong record of achievement in event management for major university internal and external functions, and worked closely with community leaders, state and local officials, and alumni.
As assistant to the vice president, Travis will continue to supervise outreach programs within the offices of Admissions and Alumni Relations and serve as the vice president's main liaison with internal and external constituencies.
In conjunction with her appointment, David Watts has been named associate director for university events. He joined the office in 1997 as an events coordinator.
