GARY CROSSMAN NAMED FELLOW OF ENGINEERING SOCIETY

Gary R. Crossman, director of Old Dominion's mechanical engineering technology department, was made a fellow of the American Society for Engineering Education at a special awards ceremony held at the ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition June 18-21.

Crossman was recognized for his outstanding professional achievement and contributions to the ASEE through dedicated service and consistent excellence in leadership, both academically and professionally.

Fellow member status is given only to those who have been members of the ASEE for at least 10 years and have made valuable contributions to engineering education. Crossman is one of only eight to receive this honor for 2000.

A faculty member at Old Dominion since 1970, Crossman has served as associate dean of the College of Engineering and Technology and as director of the Technology Applications Center. An eight-time outstanding faculty award winner and author of numerous books, articles and papers, he is the recipient of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers' Ben Sparks Medal, the American Society of Engineering Education's Frederick Berger Award and the James H. McGraw Award in Engineering Technology Education.
