BURNS AND PESCATELLO REPEAT AS ALL-AMERICAS
Senior Heather Pescatello and junior Adam Burns of the Old Dominion Sailing Team were honored Thursday as first-team All-Americans by the Intercollegiate Yacht and Racing Association.
The honor is the third in a row for Pescatello. Burns has earned All-American honors in consecutive years.
Both sailors helped lead the Monarchs to a fifth-place finish Wednesday at the Collegiate Co-ed Dinghy Sailing National Championships. Earlier this spring at the America Trophy, both Burns and Pescatello sailed the Monarchs to a first place finish in "A" Division. Both also finished fifth at the Thompson Trophy regatta in Kings Point, N.Y., and the Truxton Umstead Regatta at the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland.
Pescatello joins Flurry Normann as the school's only three-time All-American Lady Monarch sailors. Terry Hutchinson and Jim Weber are the school's only four-time sailing All-Americans.
