FACULTY, STAFF CONTRIBUTE MORE THAN $91,000 TO ANNUAL FUND

The 2000 Faculty/Staff Annual Fund campaign raised a record $91,427 in contributions and pledges, a $13,000 increase over last year, and development office officials are hoping that last-minute gifts will take the amount near or above the $100,000 goal.

A total of 544 Old Dominion employees (29 percent) made contributions to the campaign, and the average gift was $168.06. Three areas exceeded their goals. The award for the highest rate of participation went to the president's office, where 97 percent of the employees made contributions.

Other campaign highlights included:

*The Office of Administration and Finance had the highest percentage of goal (120 percent), followed by the College of Business and Public Administration (108 percent) and the athletic department (104 percent).

*The College of Business and Public Administration raised the most money, $16,211, which represents an average gift of $234.94 from 69 employees.

*The athletic department had the highest average gift ($388.58).

*Perry Library recorded the highest payroll deduction rate (100 percent).

*Donna Meeks, volunteer representative for the Office of Administration and Finance, was recognized for having the largest number of employees to solicit (541).

*Otto Martinson, associate professor of accounting, won the drawing for the one-year reserved parking space. Employees who contributed $100 or more to the Annual Fund were eligible to win.
