TENURE, EMERITUS APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED
Acting on the recommendation of its Academic Affairs Committee, the Board of Visitors on April 13 approved the award of tenure to six Old Dominion faculty and confirmed the title of emeritus to seven faculty members who have retired or are retiring this year.
Tenure was awarded to the following faculty, effective with the start of the fall 2000 semester:
*Ian Balitsky, physics;
*Charles Bunting, engineering technology;
*Joyce Hoffmann, English;
*Amadi Hummings, music;
*Janet Peery, English; and
*Katarina Wegar, sociology and criminal justice.
The following faculty were granted the title of emeritus upon their retirement:
*Nancy T. Bazin, professor of English, Jan. 1, 2000;
*Charles W. Jackson, professor of exercise science, physical education and recreation, June 1, 1999;
*Ula K. Motekat, professor of accounting, June 1, 2000;
*A. Sidney Roberts Jr., professor of mechanical engineering, June 1, 2000;
*Helen C. Rountree, professor of sociology and criminal justice, Jan. 1, 2000; and
*Raymond S. Strangways, professor of economics, June 1, 2000.
