PSYCHOLOGY RESEARCHER'S WORK FEATURED IN ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, COX NEWS SERVICE

Associate professor of psychology Debra Major's research on stress encountered by working mothers was the subject of a Saturday story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which was subsequently incorporated into the national offerings of Cox News Service.

In the story, business reporter Tammy Joyner said Major's research pointed out "what career-minded mothers already know: Women with families pay a heavy price at home for having a good working relationship with the boss."

Major's study said plum assignments, carte-blanche flexibility and open-door access to one's supervisor often have trade-offs in the form of late nights in the office and weekend homework, cutting into family time, according to the story.

Cox News Service is a division of Cox Media, the parent company of Cox Cable and 18 newspapers nationwide, including the Dayton Daily News and the Journal-Constitution.
