OLD DOMINION GRADUATE STUDENT ON 'WITH GOOD REASON' TODAY
Old Dominion University doctoral student and marine biologist Susan Barco will be a guest on the radio program, "With Good Reason" Monday.
Barco, a researcher working at the Virginia Marine Science Museum, will discuss whale populations with host Sarah McConnell. The pair was joined on a recent whale-watching expedition by 88 ninth-graders from Henrico County schools aboard a museum tour boat.
Juvenile humpback and fin whales in the early 1990s began feeding off the Virginia coast during the winter months, rather than following the adults to the breeding grounds farther south, Barco said.
The weekly broadcast, which highlights the expertise of faculty and researchers at Virginia's colleges and universities, can be heard at 1:30 p.m. on WHRV-FM (89.5).
