Salerno-Sonnenberg's powerful artistry places her among the great violinists of our time. Her exhilarating and distinctive performances are renowned, and her ability to convey the strength as well as the grace of each work has won her a loyal following among classical music audiences over the past 17 years.

She has performed extensively in the United States and abroad with such conductors as Muti, Levine, Masure, Mehta, Eschenbach, Davis (Sir Andrew), Sawallisch, Litton, Dutoit, Shostakovitch, Tilson Thomas, de Waart, Jrvi, Slatkin, Schwarz, Hogwood, Macal and Nagano.

Joining Salerno-Sonnenberg for her Old Dominion performance will be Apollo, a group of musicians from the Virginia Symphony in Norfolk organized to explore a broad array of chamber music literature.

The Feb. 20 and 21 programs are part of the F. Ludwig Diehn Concert and Residency Series, funded by an endowment established at the Norfolk Foundation by the late F. Ludwig Diehn and his wife. For more information call 683-3020.
