OLD DOMINION OFFERS $1 ORAL HEALTH SCREENINGS FOR COMMUNITY FEB. 12

A $1 oral health screening by Old Dominion University faculty and students and local dental hygienists will be offered to the community from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 12, in the Dental Hygiene Clinic at Old Dominion.

During each individual session, dental hygiene faculty and students and local hygienists will screen for gum disease and cavities, and X-rays will be taken of the teeth.

Appointments are necessary for this low-cost oral health screening program, called "Have a Caring Heart," which is sponsored by the university's School of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting, the Tidewater Dental Hygienists' Association and the Southeastern Tidewater Opportunity Project (STOP).

Proceeds from the screenings will be donated to STOP, an organization that provides assistance to low-income individuals. The screenings are offered as part of February's Dental Health Month and will last about 30 minutes each.

The Dental Hygiene Clinic is in Old Dominion's Technology Building, located on Hampton Boulevard between 46th and 47th streets. To schedule an appointment, call 683-4308.
