OLD DOMINION HOMECOMING PARADE SEEKS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS' PARTICIPATION

NORFOLK- Old Dominion University's Student Senate invites community organizations to participate in the university's homecoming parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12.

The homecoming parade is a one-mile march around campus, which begins at Elkhorn Avenue and 49th Street. It will travel south on Elkhorn, east on 43rd Street to Hampton Boulevard, north on Hampton Boulevard to Bolling Avenue, west on Bolling to Bluestone Avenue, south on Bluestone to 49th Street, west on 49th and then back to Elkhorn.

Participation is free and open to any community organization that wants to march in the parade. The Student Senate is also looking for organizations that are willing to perform or entertain the crowd. Groups can dance, sing, march with a banner or create a float. Organizations that enter a float are eligible to compete for a $500 "Best Float" prize. The parade is being sponsored by the Student Senate as an effort to establish university pride and tradition.
