MELVILLE'S CLASSIC, "MOBY DICK," OPENS AT UNIVERSITY THEATRE FEB. 18

Herman Melville's literary classic, "Moby Dick," will provide the setting for the boldest production of the Hampton Roads' theatre season Feb. 18 to March 5 on the University Theatre stage.

Adapted and directed by returning professional guest director Leon Indulsrud, "Moby Dick" reconceives the suspense and passion of Captain Ahab's epic struggle against destiny aboard the whaling ship Pequot.

Ingulsrud's theatrical collaborations have taken him to New York, Japan, Ireland and Alaska since directing last year's award-winning production of "Medea" at Old Dominion.

For his latest stage adaptation at the university, Ingulsrud synthesizes Melville's characters and narrative with the stylized performance training of theatrical innovators Tadashi Suzuki and Anne Bogart, creating a compelling production of a timeless masterpiece.

Tickets for "Moby Dick" are $10 general admission, $7.50 for students and special groups, and $5 for Old Dominion students on a rush basis.

Call 683-5305 for information and reservations or 683-4444 for credit card purchases.
